Connect to DSD Server

Connect

To connect to our server you will need three pieces of information:

Server name: jabber.dsd.lbl.gov
Server port: 5223
Transport-layer security: SSL ¹

A screenshot of this in Gaim is shown in the Register section.

Most clients will, at startup, present a menu to connect at start-up or, like Gabber, will connect automatically.

Footnotes

Currently, the server only supports simple password-over-SSL authentication. An important goal of the PCCE-JT project, however, is to also support client-side X.509 certificates as an authentication mechanism. As soon as that is finished, full documentation on how to use it will be here. Because the client code will need to be modified to suport this, non-Gaim users should be aware that they will not be able to access this feature.
