This project was a collaboration with the IT department at LBNL. The goal of the project was to discover if the Amazon Cloud Computing offerings were suitable for running any of the applications currently running on the mid-range compute resources that IT operates. The project developed the ability to replicate the local cluster environment in the Amazon EC2 Cloud, and then ran a series of experiments to study the cost and performance of running various types of applications in the Amazon Cloud.
