Keith Beattie is a computer systems engineer with over 15 years industry and research experience developing software. His interests and experience are in distributed systems and effective software development practices & tools - specifically as applied in a interdisciplinary and multi-institutional scientific setting. He has worked in industry as a software engineer and release manager for a “dot-com” and for the last 15 years at LBNL on various CS and physics research projects. Current major activities are: co-lead of the Software Development Support task element of the Carbon Capture Simulation Initiative (CCSI) and deploying a 1PB XRootD cluster on PDSF at NERSC for the STAR project. Past major activities are: core member of the data acquisition development team for the IceCube neutrino detector installed at the South Pole and co-lead developer on the NetLogger distributed systems monitoring pipeline. Keith holds a MS in Computer Science and a BA in Mathematics from SFSU.
